The Battle of Gangasagar: A One-Man Army
English: During the attack on Gangasagar, Albert Ekka noticed an enemy Light Machine Gun (LMG) pinning down his company. Without fear, he charged the bunker, bayoneted two enemy soldiers, and silenced the gun. Despite being severely wounded, he later scaled a two-story building to neutralize a Medium Machine Gun (MMG) that was stopping the Indian advance toward Agartala.

Bina dare, unhone bunker par hamla kiya aur do dushmanon ko apni bayonet se khatam kar diya. Zakhmi hone ke bawajood, unhone ek do-manzila imaarat par chadh kar dushman ki MMG ko silent kiya, jisse Agartala par hone wala khatra tal gaya.
Why He is an "Unsung Hero"
- The Only PVC of the East: Out of all the heroes of the 1971 war, he was the only one to receive the Param Vir Chakra for action on the Eastern Front (Bangladesh side).
- The Hunter’s Instinct: Born into the Oraon tribe, his childhood hunting skills made him a master of ground movement, which helped him sneak up on enemy bunkers undetected.
- A Living Legacy: Today, the Albert Ekka War Memorial in Agartala stands as a reminder that the city is safe today because of his sacrifice 54 years ago.
